Join Others to Send a Prayer or Caring Card PDF Print

Once each month a table is set up after services to help assure that cards from the congregation are sent to those who need special care and prayers.  Those attending services are asked to sign cards for members who are facing health or life concerns or who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

The Prayer Chain encourages each of us to remember others in prayer.

Interested members receive email notices during the week for those requesting prayers.

Contact the church to become a member of the Wooden Cross Prayer Chain.

Property Care Volunteers PDF Print

Many volunteer hours are needed for the upkeep and maintenance of building systems and property, including inside facilities and parking lot. Semi-annual clean-up days are needed to maintain grounds and gardens.  Volunteers assure that the building interior has adequate heating, plumbing, lighting, and fresh paint.  Rich, a long-time member, has dedicated untold hours to keep Wooden Cross safe and beautiful inside and out.

Dave, a senior member of the church, has dedicated his woodworking skills at home to build everything from preschool cubbies to the striking stand that holds the baptismal font.  If it is made of wood at Wooden Cross, thank Dave, the resident woodworker among us.

Caleb, a member of Wooden Cross who is working to earn the rank of  Eagle Scout through the Boy Scouts of America, raised the funds and organized work teams to create a fenced children's playground at Wooden Cross during Summer 2012.  Each Eagle Scout candidate is required to plan, develop, and give leadership to a service project.  The children thank Caleb, his leadership skills, and his numerous volunteers for a safe place to play.

Worship Servant Teams PDF Print

Volunteers are an important part of the worship service.  The Wooden Cross Servant Teams serve in their area of interest throughout the year.  Schedules are prepared quarterly—Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer.  Servant Team opportunities include:  Greeters, Ushers, Lectors, Cantors, Communion Assistants andAcolytes.  Also, following the service a team of counters are needed to prepare the bank deposit.  If you are interested in volunteering for any of these Sunday morning jobs at one or both sevices, please contact the church office.

Ushers and greeters meet newcomers as well as old-timers with a special welcome to services.

Fellowship hour following the second service is provided by rotating committee volunteers, who are responsible for light snacks and beverages.  In addition, the assigned committee is responsible to set up and clean up the kitchen and fellowship hall.  If you would occassionally be willing to help a committee with fellowship hour by providing snacks, setting up or cleaning up, please contact the church.
