| "The typical Sunday" |
(actually, there are no typical Sundays at Wooden Cross,
but here are some of the things you can expect) |
Sunday is the primary day for worship. But worship means different things to everyone. Below is a brief summary of a typical Sunday. If you would like to share, just stop by, no reservations are needed. There are no expectations beyond just showing up. Just like life, the greatest part of success is just showing up. So what can you expect on Sunday?
|
Early Service - 8:00am
For those wanting a jump on the day, we have the early worship service. If you like smaller groups, this is the time for you. While attendance is less at this service, nothing is missing from worship. The worship service is traditional, but casual. We use our new Evangelical Lutheran Worship book and sing all the great hymns you learned as a kid. Holy Communion is served at every service and we even have a little fellowship event with great Lutheran coffee following the service. |
Sunday School – 9:15am to 10:15am
Sunday School is for students of all ages.
Youth |
Adults |
| 1st – 6th grade students meet in the Fellowship Hall for the ‘One Room School House” program. Jr. and Sr. High students meet for Bible study, discussion and, once a month, do a Sunday morning service project. |
For the adults, it’s generally a very informative experience, with leader moderated lectures and/or discussions about how our faith and the Bible could effect our lives. Adults meet for Bible study (we are studying Genesis and headed for Exodus). Please join us. |
|
Second Service – 10:30 to 11:30
The second service is very similar to the Early Service (traditional worship, Holy Communion, organ music), but it also includes a performance by the Adult Choir and a message for the children. |
Fellowship Time – 11:30 to whenever
We drink coffee and eat goodies all morning long (it’s a Lutheran thing). We meet in the Narthex following the first service and in the Fellowship Hall after the second service. It is a wonderful time to catch up with friends and meet new people or talk to the pastor. We think it is the best part of the morning. Don’t miss it! |
Well that’s it. It’s a great way to start a new week. Get refreshed, learn something new and possibly make a new friend or two. If you have not experienced this, give us a try next Sunday. |
