Dennis was born and raised in Palo Alto, California. He has always
loved singing and began his musical journey at church as a second
grader in the cherub choir. He was the first senior high school
student allowed to sing in the adult choir there.
Dennis's formal music education includes an Associate of Arts Degree
with emphasis in music from Foothill College in Los Altos Hills,
California, a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Montana
in Missoula, Montana, and a Masters of Music Degree from Northwestern
University in Evanston, Illinois.
Over the years Dennis has been involved with many denominations
including Lutheran, Methodist, Catholic, and Presbyterian as a chancel
choir or youth choir director.
Dennis owns Evolutions - A Voice Studio with locations in Woodinville
and Issaquah, Washington. He teaches approximately fifty private
students from ages fifteen and up with a strong emphasis on the
classical approach to singing and vocal technique. He prepares
students for recitals, auditions, district and state solo and ensemble
contests, college entrance, professional advancement, and personal
improvement and enjoyment. He receives referrals from many sources
including high school and college choir directors, other voice
teachers, music stores, and word of mouth.
Dennis works as a para-professional in the Norhshore School District
and is an adjunct faculty member at Bellevue Community College.
Dennis has been a member of National Association of Teachers of
Singing (NATS) - Puget Sound Chapter for thirty two years and
presently serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors.
Dennis was a founding member of the Bellevue Chamber Chorus and
participated for several years as a singer or soloist before joining
the Northwest Chamber Chorus where he again performed as a singer and
soloist.
Dennis and his wife, Brenda, live in Duvall. They came to Wooden
Cross Lutheran Church in 2004 when he accepted the position of Choir
Director and she joined the choir as a member and soloist. The couple have two grown children who also are accomplished musicians.
